Agony Auntics tells the misadventures of Ellie Henshaw and Fliss Carmichael.

Fliss was the agony aunt in the local newspaper. She received Ellie’s e-mail asking for help with her hopeless infatuation for her co-worker Logan.

While trying to help Ellie, Fliss ended up realizing her own relationship was in disarray.

The comparison between young and mature love was fascinating. The contrast between Ellie’s and Fliss’ relationships were explored in a very engaging manner.

Despite being entertaining and fun, there were some more profound moments in which the author depicted how grief affected the characters lives in different ways.

Both women are adorable. Strong but vulnerable at the same time. Logan was a charming hero. I love how he never gave up, trying to figure out what was going on.

Jasper, Fliss’ husband, got a little on my nerves, but he grew up on me towards the end.

My favorite character is Ellie’s best friend, Laura. She was completely clueless and utterly fun.

An inspiring and fun read!

Julie Butterfield belongs to the rather large group of ‘always wanted to write’ authors who finally found the time to sit down and put pen to paper – or rather fingers to keyboard.
She wrote her first book purely for pleasure and was very surprised to discover that so many people enjoyed the story and wanted more, so she decided to carry on writing.
It has to be pointed out that her first novel, ‘Did I Mention I Won The Lottery’ is a complete work of fiction and she did not, in fact, receive millions in her bank account and forget to mention it to her husband – even though he still asks her every day if she has anything to tell him.

  12. This sounds like a wonderful enjoyable read. At one point when I was little, I wanted to be an agony aunt as I wanted to write to people and help them with their problems. This career aspiration didn’t last long but the idea of writing came from this and I’ve been building my way up to being a hopeful author one day. This books sounds like one I need to read because I like the idea of the role reversal and seeing how Fliss feels being the one seeking advice instead of giving it. Thanks for sharing the review!
